The Popular Science Fiction Program Called Doctor Who

Doctor Who is a science fiction program that is produced by BBC in Wales. The story centres around the main character, The Doctor travels through time and space to assist people and aliens who are in trouble. Usually, he travels along with his human companion (mainly female to address the gender balance of the crew) and his mode of transport is a 1960’s London Police Box, known as the Tardis. This machine is disguised and its main feature is the box is bigger on the inside. The serials The War Games (1969), Planet of the Dead (2009) and The Big Bang (2010) reveals that the Doctor has actually stole the machine!

On the Doctor’s adventures to help people and friendly aliens he has made many enemies such as the Daleks. The Daleks are very dangerous squad that exterminates anything which is not Dalek. At one stage he had to face an evil time lord, referred as the master and his vile trickery. He also faced Cybermen, some soulless robotic creatures.

The show first began at 1960s and has had a 38 year life span. The new series is as exciting and dramatic and has found considerable popularity in the UK in its new 45 minute format. Earlier serials were present in parts of 25 minutes. You can pretty much catch up the adventures with Seesaw for free or rental. To date there has been as many as eleven actors have played the part of The Doctor, that’s not including Peter Cushing who played the famous character in two movies. Once the Doctor is killed it regenerates and comes alive with a new look. This is how the series been dynamic and continued to charm. Matt Smith is the current Doctor Who actor. His interpretation of the Doctor has been met with praise and recently his performance has been nominated for a prestigious Bafta Award in the UK.
